“And most of all, he needed someone who would stay. Someone just like him.”
Talia Hibbert
SYNOPSIS:
Eve Brown is a certified hot mess. No matter how hard she strives to do right, her life always goes horribly wrong—so she’s given up trying. But when her personal brand of chaos ruins an expensive wedding, her parents draw the line. It’s time for Eve to grow up and prove herself. Jacob Wayne is in control. Always. The bed and breakfast owner’s on a mission to dominate the hospitality industry—and he expects nothing less than perfection. So when a purple-haired tornado of a woman turns up out of the blue to interview for his open chef position, he tells her the brutal truth: not a chance in hell. Then she hits him with her car—supposedly by accident. Yeah, right. Now his arm is broken, his B&B is understaffed, and the dangerously unpredictable Eve is fluttering around, trying to help. Sunny, chaotic Eve is his natural-born nemesis, but the longer these two enemies spend in close quarters, the more their animosity turns into something else. Like Eve, the heat between them is impossible to ignore—and it’s melting Jacob’s frosty exterior.
MY THOUGHTS:
I absolutely adored this book. I realized it’s book three of Brown Sisters but you can read these books in any order. Of course I immediately had to buy the other two. Talia knows very well how to get into the characters minds, hopes and expectations and she can describe them perfectly for you. There isn’t a dull moment in this book and it made me laugh and smile like a lunatic in the middle of my living room.
Jacob has a form of autism and he can’t fully relate to people. He’s also very judgy, he prefers to be alone in his own world. When he likes someone he truly likes them but usually he ends up getting hurt because people tend to leave so he created this shell to protect him from feelings.
Eve is just adorable. She has insecurities, mainly because of her judgy family but wherever she goes, she can light up the room with her retorts and confidence.
WHAT I LIKED:
– The banter between Jacob and Eve right from the start is absolutely hilarious. There couldn’t be any more different people than those two and they simply have to co-exist with one another.
– The steamy level will make you want to turn on the air conditioning. What in the world did I just read?! The way Talia can describe the sexual scenes is so engaging and, when you notice, you’re making awkward expressions to the book. Don’t read this in public bookworms!
– Talia’s approach of the characters’ feelings and expectations
– The light and funny writing that makes this book a perfect read without so much as a dull moment.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
CONCLUSION:
This book was perfect for me. I will definitely be rereading it soon. It was my first Talia’s book but she’s already my auto-buy author. I bought the other two books of Brown Sisters and I can’t wait for them to arrive. If you like light romance, with the trope enemies to lovers and steamy scenes then this book is definitely for you!
