Plot Summary

Rose Cassidy doesn’t truly live; she just exists. Numbing herself to fear and pain is the only way she can survive in this cruel world. My Review

I was not prepared at all for this book. I’m a Jodi fan…a huge Jodi fan. I’ve read all of her books. I’m that fan that’s already clicking on the buying button thirty seconds after she announces her new book so I can say I know Jodi’s work pretty well…until now. This is Jodi’s first dark romance and I was not used at all to see her writing these kind of themes that involve sexual abuse, mafia, kidnapping. It was a whole new world for me.

You’ll either love or hate this book. I don’t think there’s something in between. For me it was love for sure. The theme is very dark but I loved these characters very much. Love in this book is not represented as something tender, it is often violent and abusive. It’s a very toxic love story with many intense sex scenes.

Danny just inherited his father’s empire and he’s already feared by everyone. The Angel-Faced Assassin everyone calls him. To send a message to Danny’s rival he takes his mistress away from him: Rose, a woman who isn’t living, she’s existing for a higher purpose. Despite Danny’s violent ways, he can’t deny the attraction he feels for Rose, who has a huge secret. A secret she can’t let Danny find out about. Now being a spy inside Danny Black’s empire, Rose finds herself torn. She has to deliver answers about Danny but she also starts to develop feelings for him.

These feelings will lead them both into big trouble in the mafia world.
