Twisted Lies (Twisted #4) by Ana Huang

“My dream is to be with you. And my biggest fear is losing you. You will always be my first, last, and only love.”

Trigger Warning: Sexual Scenes/ Stalking/ Kidnapping

Plot Summary

Charming, deadly, and smart enough to hide it, Christian Harper is a monster dressed in the perfectly tailored suits of a gentleman.

He has little use for morals and even less use for love, but he can’t deny the strange pull he feels toward the woman living just one floor below him.

She’s the object of his darkest desires, the only puzzle he can’t solve. And when the opportunity to get closer to her arises, he breaks his own rules to offer her a deal she can’t refuse.

Every monster has their weakness. She’s his.

His obsession.

His addiction.

His only exception.

**

Sweet, shy, and introverted despite her social media fame, Stella Alonso is a romantic who keeps her heart in a cage.

Between her two jobs, she has little time or desire for a relationship.

But when a threat from her past drives her into the arms—and house—of the most dangerous man she’s ever met, she’s tempted to let herself feel something for the first time in a long time.

Because despite Christian’s cold nature, he makes her feel everything when she’s with him.

Passionate.

Protected.

Truly wanted.

Theirs is a love twisted with secrets and tainted by lies…and when the truths are finally revealed, they could shatter everything.

Twisted Lies is a steamy, medium to slow burn fake dating romance. It is the fourth and final book in the Twisted series but can be read as a standalone.

My Review

And that’s how you end a series with a BANG. This book was nothing less than amazing.

Stella is a social media influencer and a fashion lover who is currently renting an apartment on Christian Harper’s building for a very nice price, that Christian himself negotiated with her. Christian is a dark and mysterious man, someone nobody’s want to mess with. But with Stella, he’s different, he’s softer. When Stella’s in danger due to some stalker, Christian steps right in to protect her. From there, they’re undeniable attraction really spikes and Christian will do anything to be with Stella.

This was an intense slow burn romance with very steamy scenes. I loved the chemistry between both characters and lived for the scenes where the characters from the previous books appeared and interacted with each other. I can never say this enough: despite the possibility of being read as standalones it’s always better to read them in order since the characters from previous books appear with their loved ones.

I was really anticipating this book. When Christian appeared in the previous stories I was so curious about him. He was so reserved, dark and full of secrets. I love that kind of character. In the previous books I didn’t quite feel the connection with Stella but now I simply love her. Despite being an influencer, she’s an introvert and a very sweet woman.

My heart aches with the end of the series, but I end them with a smile. It was an amazing ride with these characters and it’s not goodbye forever. I will return to these books eventually.

Tropes you can expect

  • Fake dating
  • Touch her and you die

Quotes

“The day I met you,” he said. “Was the luckiest day of my life. You’ve always been the brightest part of my world, Butterfly. And you always will be.”
The depth of emotion in his words stung my eyes. “You don’t strike me as a guy who believes in luck.
“I believe in everything when it comes to you.”

“Touch her for any reason other than to save her life, and you die.”

“I want to make a few things clear.” Christian’s lips brushed mine with each word. “Touch another man, he dies. Let another man touch you, he dies. Tell me I can’t touch you…” His grip tightened on the back of my neck as his voice dropped. “And I will fucking die.”

“Butterfly?”

Beautiful. Elusive. Hard to catch.”

“I’m a doctor, and I still can’t find a medical reason for why girls always have to use the bathroom at the same time,” I heard Josh muse as we left. “You’re an idiot,” Alex said.”
