Plot Summary
Jess is smashing her Edinburgh events management job right now. Her boss is talking about a promotion, her clients love her and other companies want her. But all of that comes to an abrupt halt when her brother has a sudden stroke. Jess doesn’t think twice about stepping in as his carer, but her boss is not so understanding. Demoted to managing low-end events, Jess is less than thrilled to be assigned to a small animal park in need of raising funds. She’s even less happy when she clashes with arrogant head keeper, Nick . He’s frustrated with her squeamishness; she thinks he’s a lech. Nick wants a baggage-free life; Jess has so much drama going on, even the Kardashians can’t keep up. But maybe saving the animals of East Lothian Wildlife Park will help these op-paw-sites find some common ground…
My Review
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and Canelo Publishing. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me. It started strong, with a good premise that had me hoping for a good enemies to lovers. Instead I found the bickering barely existent. They didn’t like each other at first but quickly they passed that phase. I think there could be so much more of this trope in this book. I found the romance between Jess and Nick very lacking, there was barely any romance at all.
I enjoyed the scenes with the animals and the zoo set but it was pretty much it.
Some of the characters’ reactions and thoughts seemed unrealistic, a bit childish even. As the story evolved, the pacing didn’t get any more exciting and the actions of the characters were very predictable.
Despite this, I believe many other people might enjoy this book, it’s a very light read, with a tiny bit of enemies to lovers, cute animals and a female main character focused on her career.

A Jess está a arrasar no seu emprego de gestora de eventos em Edimburgo. O seu chefe está a falar de uma promoção, os seus clientes adoram-na e outras empresas querem-na. A Minha Opinião
Recebi uma cópia gratuita deste livro da Netgalley e da Canelo Publishing. As opiniões expressas nesta avaliação são inteiramente minhas.
Infelizmente este livro não é para mim. Começou bem, com uma boa premissa que me fez esperar um bom romance ‘de inimigos e amantes’. Em vez disso, achei que as discussões mal existiam. Eles não gostavam um do outro no início, mas rapidamente passaram essa fase. Acho que poderia haver muito mais desenvolvimento desta relação neste livro. Achei o romance entre a Jess e o Nick muito pobre, quase não houve romance.
Gostei das cenas com os animais e do cenário do jardim zoológico, mas foi praticamente apenas isso que me agradou.
Algumas das reacções e pensamentos das personagens pareciam irrealistas, um pouco infantis até. À medida que a história evoluía, o ritmo não se tornava mais emocionante e as acções das personagens eram muito previsíveis.
Apesar disso, acredito que muitas outras pessoas poderão gostar deste livro, é uma leitura muito leve, com um pouco de inimigos para amantes, animais fofos e uma personagem principal feminina focada na sua carreira.
